Becoming Collegiate Academy is an elementary school on a mission to prepare students for success in college and life. We don't just teach. Through the exposure of HBCU culture we inspire the next generation of leaders to use their unique talents and gifts to make the world a better place for all.
BCA will grow to serve grades Kindergarten-4th grade during the 2025-2026 school year. The school will continue to grow each year until it is a K-5 elementary school.

The Role:
As the School Counselor at Becoming Collegiate Academy, you will support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development of all students. You will work collaboratively with families, teachers, and school leadership to build a strong support network for students and ensure that our scholars are thriving. You will also help shape and reinforce our school culture by incorporating HBCU values, character development, and community pride.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s Degree in School Counseling or related field from an accredited institution
- Certification: Valid Florida Certification in Guidance and Counseling (Grades PK–12) is required
- Experience: Prior experience working in an elementary school setting is strongly preferred
Expectations: Our expectations for school counselor include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Coordinate Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and serve as the LEA representative for all Student Support Team (SST) and 504 meetings
- Provide weekly individual and small group counseling for students demonstrating academic, social, or emotional needs
- Support character education and deliver schoolwide classroom guidance lessons as determined by school leadership
- Collaborate with families and external agencies to connect students with wraparound services
- Respond to crises and serve as the point person for mandated reporting and safety-related concerns
- Support students with behavioral challenges through restorative practices and tiered interventions
- Organize and lead at least one school-based community engagement event per year
- Create a positive and productive learning environment for each student
- Attend weekly meetings, participate in school events and engage in continuous learning and development
